UFLA GET-TOGETHER 2026 CELEBRATED WITH JOY AND FRATERNAL FELLOWSHIP

The Ursuline Franciscan Congregation, Mangalore Province organized the Ursuline Franciscan Lay Association (UFLA) Get-Together 2026 on Monday, 14 September 2026, at Rosario Cathedral, Mangaluru, bringing together UFLA members from 22 units of the Mangalore Province and one unit of the Central Delegation for a day of prayer, fellowship, celebration and shared mission.

A Seminar on Animation Skills was organized on 11th and 12th July, for the Superiors and First Assistants of the communities with the objective of strengthening their leadership abilities and equipping them for more effective service within their respective communities. The programme served as a valuable platform for the participants to reflect on their role as leaders, deepen their understanding of community animation, and enhance their interpersonal and administrative skills.

With hearts full of gratitude and joy, the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters of African Region celebrated the Silver Jubilee of Sr Nirmala Rodrigues on 10th May 2026, marking 25 years of faithful religious life and dedicated service to God and His people. Sr Nirmala has been a true witness of prayer, humility, simplicity, and loving service. In a special way, we gratefully acknowledge her pioneering missionary service in the African Region for the past 22 years, where she continues to touch many lives through her commitment, compassion, and leadership.

The Ursuline Franciscan Congregation, Mangalore Province solemnly celebrated the Golden and Silver Jubilee of religious profession of nine Sisters on 11th April 2026 at Assisi Central School Auditorium, Derlakatte. The Golden Jubilarians were Sr Laureen Cutinha, Sr Rosy D’Souza, Sr Stella D’Souza, and Sr Violet Sequeira, while the Silver Jubilarians were Sr Anitha Rodrigues, Sr Laveena D’Souza, Sr Leena D’Souza, Sr Rita D’Souza, and Sr Wilma D Almeida.

“We, the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters, belong to a religious institute of Pontifical Right called Ursuline Franciscan Congregation, dedicated to apostolic works, following the Rule and Life of the Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St Francis of Assisi. It was founded on April 10, 1887, Easter Sunday by Fr Urban Stein SJ, the then Parish Priest of Rosario Cathedral, Mangalore. The motto of the Congregation is ‘Pro Amore Dei’ (For the Love of God). This Motto is the heritage received by the members of the Company of St Ursula, from St Angela Merici. In the first Legacy she writes – Firstly, then, dearest Mothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ, try with the help of God to acquire and maintain within you such an attitude of mind and heart that in your task of governing, you act solely for the love of God and zeal for the salvation of souls.”
