A seminar for the leaders of the Province was organised on 22 August 2026 on the theme “Animating Communities and Ministries: Leadership Rooted in Prayer, Relationship and Responsibility.” The sessions were animated by Rev. Fr. Elias Cardoza, whose practical reflections, interactive methodology and insightful sharing enabled the participants to examine their own experience of leadership, community life and ministry.
The seminar invited the leaders to rediscover leadership not merely as administration, decision-making or the fulfilment of responsibilities, but as a ministry of accompaniment, relationship, communion and service. At the heart of authentic Christian leadership is prayer. Prayer was presented as the source of discernment, patience, compassion and wise decision-making. The seminar also explored the variety of personalities and experiences within community life. In dealing with tensions and conflicts, the distinction between “confrontation” and “carefrontation” was particularly meaningful. Carefrontation calls leaders to speak difficult truths with honesty while preserving the dignity, wellbeing and growth of the person.
The seminar concluded as an invitation to renewal and continual conversion. The participants were encouraged to examine their rootedness in prayer, the quality of their relationships, their response to conflict, their ability to listen, and their stewardship of the resources entrusted to them.
