April 8, 2026 – The Holy Rosary Convent, Jeppu, was filled with joy and gratitude as the Central Delegation of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession of Sr Trecilla Dias UFS.
Hailing from Nakre Parish of the present Diocese of Udupi and currently a member of the Holy Rosary Community, Sr Trecilla marked 50 years of her dedicated “yes” to the Lord amidst Sisters, clergy, family, and friends.
The jubilee thanksgiving Eucharist was at 10.00 a.m., presided over by Rev. Fr Maxim D Souza, Parish Priest of St Joseph Church, Jeppu, and concelebrated by Fr Francis D Souza OCD. In his homily, Fr Maxim beautifully reflected on how Sr Trecilla’s life has been refined like gold through five decades of faithful service, prayer, and self-giving. The renewal of vows by the jubilarian during the liturgy, done with deep devotion, was an act of her recommitting to God in love and gratitude for his unwavering faithfulness throughout her religious journey.
Following the Mass, a warm felicitation programme was organized by Sr Sumana Pinto, Central Delegate Superior, along with her Council and the Holy Rosary Community. The celebration opened with a graceful welcome dance by the pre-novices, after which Sr Sumana extended a heartfelt welcome to the gathering.
On behalf of the community, Sr Juliet Serrao read the citation of felicitation, and the jubilarian was honoured with a shawl, garland, and gift. It was recalled that over these five decades, her missionary journey has taken her to Mizoram, Hadoi in the diocese of Lucknow, Jeppu and Madanthyar in the diocese of Mangalore, and Tanzania in Africa, where she served with love and zeal.
Very Rev. Sr Milly Fernandes, Superior General, in her message of appreciation, described Sr Trecilla as “a gift of God to the Church and to the Congregation” and recalled her years of generous service. The Superior General and her team felicitated the jubilarian with a garland, shawl, basket of fruits, and a special gift. Adding a family touch to the occasion, Sr Trecilla’s niece, Alka Dias expressed greetings and gratitude on behalf of her family.
Visibly moved, Sr Trecilla responded with words of thanksgiving. She praised God who had led her “through the thick and thin of life” for fifty years. She fondly remembered her departed parents, brothers, and sister, praying for their eternal rest, and joyfully acknowledged the presence of her only surviving sibling, Sr Rosa Dias UFS, who shares her call in the same Congregation.
The Golden Jubilee concluded on a note of jubilation with a festive fellowship meal, leaving all present with hearts full of gratitude for a life lived in love and service.
The Programme was ably compered by Sr Hilda Albuquerque, Central Delegation Councillor.
