The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests. The president of the programme was Rev. Sr Milly Fernandes, the Superior General UFC, Chief guests Rev Sr Clara Menezes, the Provincial Superior of Mangalore Province, Mr Michael Dsouza, a well-known NRI Philanthropist and benefactor, Mr Victor Jerald Lobo, benefactor, Rev. Sr Luciana Pinto, Warden of De Mercede Children’s Home, Rev. Sr Flevia Lewis, Superior of St Joseph’s Convent, Panir.
The programme began on a prayerful note with a meaningful prayer song, followed by a vibrant welcome dance presented by the children. This was followed by the felicitation of the dignitaries on the dais, along with a special honouring of the donors and benefactors whose generous support made the dream of this home a reality.
A moment of pride and appreciation was the special honour accorded to Sr Luciana Pinto, Warden of De Mercede Children’s Homes, for receiving the Karnataka Rajyothsava Award of 2025, in recognition of her dedicated service to the children.
The cultural segment added colour and inspiration to the event, featuring graceful and comedy dances and a dance drama depicting the life and message of Mother Teresa, highlighting love, service, and compassion for the marginalized.
The programme concluded with a fellowship meal, fostering a spirit of unity, gratitude, and shared joy among all present. The inauguration of De Mercede Boy’s Home stands as a beacon of hope, reaffirming the commitment to nurture, protect and empower children entrusted to its care.
