In a deeply moving and spiritual ceremony, 19 Ursuline Franciscan Sisters of the North East Province pronounced their religious vows at Holy Cross Church, Dimapur, on 29th April, 2025.
The occasion marked a significant milestone for the congregation as 14 novices made their Temporary Profession, and five Sisters took their Perpetual Profession—a total self-offering to the service of God and the Church. The theme for the celebration, “Called to Love and Serve,” echoed throughout the event, capturing the essence of the Sisters’ vocation.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Joachim Walder, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Aizawl, and concelebrated by 41 priests. In his homily, Bishop Walder reflected on the sacredness of vocation, calling it “a precious gift from God, both to the individual and to the Church.” He encouraged the Sisters to remain rooted in Christ, finding lasting joy in their faithful commitment, adding, “You belong entirely to God, and in this belonging lies your true joy.”
Rev. Sr. Juliana Pereira, Provincial Superior of the North East Province, extended a warm welcome to all present, including dignitaries, clergy, family members, religious Sisters, and the faithful. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the families of the newly professed Sisters for generously offering their daughters to the Church and fostering their vocations with love and sacrifice.
Following the Mass, a felicitation programme was held to honour the newly professed Sisters. The Bishop was welcomed with reverence, and the choir rendered a beautiful welcome song. The novices introduced the newly professed to the gathering, after which Sr. Juliana congratulated and felicitated them for their courageous and loving response to God’s call.
On behalf of all the professed Sisters, Sr. Rene Rita offered a vote of thanks, acknowledging the unwavering support of their formators, families, and all those who helped make the day a memorable and grace-filled celebration.
The event concluded with an agape meal, where families, clergy, religious, and friends gathered to congratulate the Sisters and share in their joy. Nearly 850 people witnessed the celebration, which was marked by an atmosphere of reverence, joy, and spiritual renewal.
