On April 30, 2025, the Sisters of Holy Rosary Convent celebrated a double milestone: The Golden Jubilee of Sr Margaret D Souza and Silver Jubilee of Sr Juliet Molly Serrao of their Religious Profession. The jubilarians' stories of faith, love, faithfulness, and commitment were hailed as a beautiful gift to God, the Church, the Congregation, and society at large.
The solemn Eucharistic Celebration began at 10:00 a.m., marked by a procession featuring the jubilarians, their mothers, and esteemed guests, including Sr Milly Fernandes, Superior General; Sr Jeraldine, Delegate Superior; and priests’ Fr Martin D'Silva, Fr John, and Fr Ronald Lobo. Fr. Martin's homily highlighted the Konkani phrase "Krist-hanv" (I am Christ), emphasizing the Christian mission to embody Christ's love. He enumerated the different ways the jubilarians have been Christ to others and invited all the participants to live up to our mission.
The Mass was followed by a heartfelt felicitation programme. Sr Jeraldine welcomed the guests, and the cake-cutting ceremony was a joyful moment. A felicitation song by the Sisters added to the celebratory atmosphere. Sr Jacintha Monteiro and Sr Sumana Wilma Pinto read citations honouring Sr Margaret and Sr Juliet, respectively. The Superior General praised the jubilarians' dedication, love, and commitment, acknowledging their inspiring journey of service and obedience.
The highlight of the felicitation programme was the presence of the jubilarians' aging mothers, who beamed with joy and gratitude, thanking God and the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation for the blessings their daughters have received. Their families expressed heartfelt appreciation for the love and care the Sisters have shown. Theophyla and Asha, sisters of Sr Margaret and Sr Juliet, voiced their family's gratitude.
Sr Juliet responded on behalf of both jubilarians, expressing thanks to God, their families, past and present Superiors General, formators, and all who enriched their lives. Sr Margaret added her own words of appreciation and gratitude to those who made the celebration special. They honoured the present and former Superiors General, Sr Milly Fernandes, Sr Edilburga Monteiro, Sr Doreen D Souza, Provincial Superior of Hubli Province, Sr Gretta Sanjeevini D Souza, and Sr Jeraldine, the Delegate Superior of Central Delegation. Sr Dimple D Souza skilfully compered the programme.
The festive meal, graciously provided by renowned Prince Caterers of Neermarga, Mangalore, added a delightful conclusion to the celebration. Their delicious cuisine was a perfect ending to a day filled with joy, gratitude, and heartfelt tributes to the jubilarians.
The celebration was a truly grace-filled experience, a blessing not only to Sr Margaret and Sr Juliet but also the entire gathering. It brought God's blessings through the joy, togetherness, and collaboration that filled the day. The reunion of three families—the jubilarians' and the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation— was a highlight, allowing hearts to express deep feelings and connections.
