The 4th Provincial Chapter of Hubli Province of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation commenced on 23rd January 2025 with a retreat preached by Rev Fr Francis Menezes SJ. The theme of the Chapter was, ‘Repair My House in a Synodal Way.’
The 4th Provincial Chapter of Hubli Province of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation commenced on 23rd January 2025 with a retreat preached by Rev Fr Francis Menezes SJ. The theme of the Chapter was, ‘Repair My House in a Synodal Way.’ Under this overarching theme, different sub-themes as following were explored each day:
- Broken but Not Beyond Repair: In the Shadow of the Holy Spirit
- Shepherding with Love and Compassion: Our Synodal Journey
- Companions on the Journey: In the Path of Renewal
- Synodality Explored: Facing the Future as Pilgrims of Hope
The Chapter was presided over by Rev. Sr Milly Fernandes, the Superior General of the Congregation and was assisted by Rev. Sr Philomena Noronha, the Councillor General.
Subsequently, Rev. Sr Milly Fernandes delivered the inaugural address and officially declared the Chapter open by lighting the lamp. Each day began with Morning Prayer, followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Based on the proposals prepared, the Policies were formed and were approved unanimously by the Chapter Delegates.
On January 25th, the election for the Provincial Superior and her Council was held. Sr Gretta Sanjivini D Souza was elected as the Provincial Superior. Srs Severine Veigas, Lucy D Souza, Synthia D Mello, Stella Saldanha were elected as Provincial Councillors for the term of three years.
A short programme to honour and thank the outgoing Provincial Team was held. Thereafter Sr Gretta Sanjivini the Provincial Superior thanked all the Chapter Delegates especially the outgoing Provincial Team. Following this, the President, Rev. Sr Milly Fernandes, delivered her concluding message and officially declared the Chapter closed on 27th January 2025.
