Holy Rosary Convent which is at the heart of Mangalore city, had the privilege to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of its existence on 31st October 2022. To mark this event a programme was arranged, that was commenced with a thanksgiving Eucharist.

To mark this event a programme was arranged, that was commenced with a thanksgiving Eucharist, presided over by Bishop Emeritus Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza and concelebrated by Rev. Fr Daniel Veigas OP, Episcopal Vicar for Religious, Mangalore Diocese, Rev. Fr Ronald Serrao, Rector, St Joseph Seminary, Rev. Fr Roque D Sa, Parish Priest, Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia and a few other guest priests.
The Eucharistic celebration began with the procession carrying the lighted lamps by the former Superiors of the Convent as a symbol of gratitude for His blessings over the years. Rev. Fr Daniel Veigas during the homily invited the Eucharistic assembly, in particular the Sisters to be the witnesses of the Lord’s presence in their life as individuals and community. At the end of the Eucharistic celebration Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul appreciated the Sisters for their service to the Church and congratulated them.
There was short felicitation programme after the Eucharistic celebration; The pre-novices set the tone to the programme through a prayer song. The students who are accommodated at the Convent accorded a colourful welcome with their lively steps to the rhythmic song. Sr Jeraldine D Souza, the Delegate Superior of Central Delegation and the Animator of Holy Rosary Convent welcomed the President of the programme – Sr Milly Fernandes, Superior General, and the other dignitaries, namely Fr Daniel Veigas, Fr Naveen Pinto representing the Rector, St Joseph Seminary, Fr Roque D Sa and Mrs Christine D Souza the first member of the Ursuline Franciscan Association and all the guests through her cordial words.
The President, Sr Milly Fernandes inaugurated the Platinum event by lighting the Logo of the Jubilee. The dignitaries were honoured with a shawl, garland and a memento, and all the former Superiors of Holy Rosary Convent who were present for the event were also honoured and thanked for their yeoman service to the institution.
In her presidential address Rev. Sr Milly Fernandes spelt out the importance of Holy Rosary Convent to the Congregation and thanked the Sisters for keeping up its significant role as Mother House of the Congregation. While enumerating its apostolic undertakings she highlighted the role of Sr Margarina Pinto who has kept alive the original apostolate of this Convent namely training the young women in needle craft through her 48 years of continuous service and was honoured with a shawl and a gift. Sr Jeraldine D Souza, also was honoured on this occasion.
The Jubilee song composed and sung by the pre-novices filled the atmosphere with jubilant melody. Mr Vinod Gangolli through his Divyavani channel streamlined the video depicting the history of Holy Rosary Convent. Sr Doreen D Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
Sisters of Holy Rosary Convent wish and pray that this Platinum Jubilee reawakens in them the zeal for Christ’s mission and enables them to reflect the face of Christ to Sisters within and people outside, the needy in particular. They rejoice for they have Mother Mary the Queen of Holy Rosary to inspire them in their community and apostolic life.
