It is a matter of great delight to the Sisters of the North Province that they are making steady progress towards achieving their object of reaching out to the marginalized people in slums and rural areas of their respective working regions. In order to meet the finanical need, the Province has started Social Welfare Fund pooling together the surplus amount of two months each of all the communities of the Province.
Tailoring classes for young girls and Sef-Help-Groups for women will be started at the earliest. Providentially, we have been able to find a place in the vicinity of the slum which is used for the activities. The various activities aim at addressing the issues of creating awarenss, empowerment, health and hygiene, employment, literacy, and dignity of human person.
Besides, we are reaching out to people in the district of Deva, which is 25kms west of Jeevan Dhara Convent, Lucknow. Forming SHGs with women will be the immediate concern. The villages have been visited; people have shown immense interest.
