NEW ESTABLISHMENT OF NORTH EAST PROVINCE Divine Mercy Convent, Thenzawl North East Province has established a new mission at Thenzawl, on 10th June 2016, under Aizawl Diocese, Mizoram. The Sisters work in collaboration with the Salesians of Don Bosco fathers. The convent has been named as Divine Mercy Convent to mark the Year of Mercy
Sisters Severine Carlo, Prisca Tirkey and Maria Lalhlupuii are the pioneers of this new community. The Formal inauguration of this mission was held on 10th June 2016. The convent building was blessed by Rt. Rev. Stephen Rotluanga, the Bishop of Aizwal and inaugurated by Rev. Sr. Mary C.J., the Provincial Superior. 14 Sisters, Fr. Gabriel Thlana, the parish priest of Serchhip parish, Fr. Antony Valluran, the priest in charge, two Salesian brothers and a few faithful witnessed this programme. The Bishop concelebrated the Eucharist with two Priests. The people of the village extended an official welcome to the Sisters and promised their full support in their new mission. The Sisters will be involved in the educational, catechesis, family and pastoral apostolate. At present the Sisters are residing in the rented building. We pray God’s choicest blessings on our Sisters as they have willingly come forward to venture in this area.
