
The VI Province Chapter of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation, Mangalore Province was held at Shanthi Dham, Mangalore from 26th to 29th December 2012. It was presided over by Sr Doreen DSouza, the Superior General of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation together with her assistant Sr. Susheela Sequeira.
THEME: “Rooted in Christ, be a Rainbow, a Visible Sign of Peace, Reconciliation and Hope for the New World 37 Sisters who represented the Province as delegates of the chapter reflected and prayed over this theme and arrived at the following Vision-Mission Statement that would give a right orientation to our life and mission:
Vision Statement: Rooted in Christ, we the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters of Mangalore Province strive to grow as mystics through a life of reconciliation, contemplation and discernment in our daily lives so as to give life, life in fullness.
Mission Statement: Ignited with a prophetic fire and apostolic zeal, we emerge as a rainbow of peace, reconciliation and hope to a new world witnessing to the kingdom values in our time and age solely for the love of God.
As preparation for the Chapter, Pre Chapter study at zonal level, a retreat by Sr David Delaney and a recollection on the theme and importance of the Chapter by Fr Frankie Serrao was done.
In the Election held on 28th December 2012 Rev. Sr Lenita D’Souza was re-elected as the Provincial Superior of Mangalore Province. Sr Rita Vas was elected as the Vice Provincial, Srs. Lucy Lilly Pinto, Trecilla D’Mello, Hilda Albuquerque were elected as the Provincial Councilors.
