Sr Doreen DSouza, Superior General and her Council realized the mandate by erecting the Hubli Vice Province on 16 June 2013. Sr Severine Veigas, Vice Provincial Superior, Sisters Margaret DSouza, Sunitha J Fernandes, Lucy DSouza, Synthia Agnes DMello, Councilors and Vanitha Ferrao, Economer were appointed to administer the Vice Province.
The erection of the Vice Province as well as the oath taking ceremony of the administrators was held on the same day at St Michael Convent, Shanthi Nagar, Hubli. On the occasion of the erection of the Vice Province, Sr Lenita D’Souza and Sr Apoline Cordeiro the Provincial Superiors of Mangalore and Mysore Province respectively and their Councillors were present.
The Vice Province is formed out of thirteen communities carved out of the Mangalore Province and Mysore Province, existing in seven districts and four dioceses. It consists of 78 Sisters, 58 perpetually professed and 20 temporarily professed respectively. A succinct illustration of the Vice Province at its inception would be as follows:
Five convents from Dharwad and Haveri districts are part of the Balgaum Diocese: Dharwad district (Bharavasha Nilaya in Tumrikop; Fatima Convent and St Michael Convent in Hubli), Haveri district (Roshni and Kripa Sadan at Hangal). Six convents from Bidar, Bijapur and Yadgir districts form part of Gulbarga Diocese: Bijapur district (Sneha Sangama at Bijapur and Assisi Nilaya at Sindagi), Yadgir district (Prerana at Shorapur and Sneha Sadan at Shahapur), and Bidar district (Chaitanya at Kaudiyal and Ashraya Mathe Nilaya at Itga). While one convent forms part of Bellary Diocese: Raichur district (Anugrha at Potnal) another forms part of Karwar Diocese: North Kanara district (Christa Seva Nilaya at Sirsi). Prerana, Sneha Sadan and Anugrha were part of Mysore Province and the other ten convents formed part of the Mangalore Province.
