The 5th Provincial Chapter of North East Province of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation – North East Province was held from 6th January 2010 to 9th January 2010. It was Chaired by Rev. Sr. Doreen DSouza the Superior General of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation. 29 Sisters who represented the Province as delegates of the Chapter reflected, discussed and arrived at the conclusions based on the theme of the Chapter.

Theme: “Towards Redefining the Identity, Life style and Mission of Ursuline Franciscan Sisters in the Context of Today”.
The 5th Provincial Chapter of North East Province of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation – North East Province was held from 6th January 2010 to 9th January 2010. It was Chaired by Rev. Sr. Doreen D’Souza the Superior General of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation. 29 Sisters who represented the Province as delegates of the Chapter reflected, discussed and arrived at the conclusions based on the theme of the Chapter. All the deliberations of the Chapter gave a thrust to our Mission in Northeast India as follows:
In Redefining our Identity, lifestyle and mission the Lord invites us, the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters to be available with all our being to the joys and sorrows, agonies and ecstasies of our brothers and sisters. Our presence in the society today is to be a ‘witnessing presence’ giving meaning and fruitfulness in the human persons’ existence. Being firmly grounded and rooted in God’s love we are to draw constant strength and grace from the ‘Devine Sap’ which will make us ‘the salt of the earth’ adding taste in the lives of people and the ‘light of the world’ accompanying people groping in darkness.
Our call as Religious women is a call to ‘bend and wash’, a loving invitation to ‘break and share’. The world today challenges us to re-commit ourselves by being more and more Incarnational.
We are to strive to be authentic in our spirituality and humane in our dealings which will bring joy, beauty and variety in the lives of those we encounter thus human life a joyful celebration.
In the Election held on the 8th January, 2010 Rev. Sr. Milly Fernandes was elected as the Provincial Superior of the North East Province. Rev. Sr. Jyothsna D’Souza was elected as the Vice Provincial, Rev. Sr. Rosin Noronha, Rev. Sr. Juliana Pereira and Rev. Sr. Letitia D’Silva were elected as the Provincial Councillors.
