The Ursuline Franciscan Sisters announce with joy the good news of their entry into the Continent of Africa. “The harvest is great but the labourers are few”. So we send our labourers to this distant land. They go with the message of peace and love.
“As the Mother Church welcomes all her children and makes them One Body, the Diocese of SAME too, welcomes the missionaries to help in its mission of evangelization.”
With these words Most Rev. Dr Jacob V. Koda, Bishop of the diocese of SAME extended his invitation to the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters to serve his people.
Accepting this invitation the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation made its presence felt in SAME Diocese of Tanzania on June 13, 2004, through the pioneering group of ten Sisters. Through their personal life, and apostolic works they desire to strengthen their effors to enter into the evangelizing mission of the Church, in Kindoroko and SAME, the two missions of the diocese. Urusline Franciscan Congregation is the first Indian Congregation to step in this Diocese.
We bless them and say in the words of St Angela Merici, our patroness, “May the strength and true consolation of the Holy Spirit be in you all, so that you can sustain and carry out vigorously and faithfully the charge laid upon you, and at the same time look forward to the great reward which God had prepared for you” (Counsels, Prologue 3-5).
