Ursuline Franciscan Lay, unit was established on Post Centenary Silver Jubilee of the Congregation that is on April 12,2012, The main intention was to involve the laity in our ministry.

Ursuline Franciscan Lay, unit was established on Post Centenary Silver Jubilee of the Congregation that is on April 12,2012, The main intention was to involve the laity in our ministry. However it was not that easy for us to start UFLA as most of our parishes, where our convents are situated have single digit Catholics. However we are successful in starting UFLA in four parishes. We officially initiated UFLA in the province on 18-08-2013. On that auspicious day 45 sisters were present and a meaningful session was given by Sr Lilly Pinto, on how to start and what are the necessary things to be followed by UFLA animators. The first wing of UFLA was inaugurated on 23-10-2013 at St Michael Convent Shantinagar, by then Provincial Superior Rev. Sr Severine Veigas. 13 men and women opted to join the UFLA.
On 26th January 2014 the second unit was inaugurated at Bharavasha Niliya Convent, Tumarikoppa, 18 members who aspired to join UFLA were present for the inaugural ceremony. The third unit was inaugurated on 2nd October 2014 at Fatima Convent Keshwapur, Fifteen UFLA members joined the unit and were present for the inauguration. The fourth unit was inaugurated on 16th September 2023 at Christa Seva Nilaya Sirasi. Twenty members were present on the day.
All the four units are vibrant and contribute for the building of the church. The members are very active in reaching out to the families, through family prayer, Rosary, visiting families at joyful and sad moments. They also involve in doing lots of charitable activities such as visiting the old age homes, HIV AIDS children homes. They under take pilgrims, visiting the heritage home at St Ursula Convent, Bolar.
UFLA decennial celebration was held on 30-10-2022, at St. Michael Provincialate, Shantinagar. All the UFLA members actively participated in all the activities of the day. On the whole it was a memorable day to all of us.
At present there are 72 active and energetic UFLA members in different stages.
