In the European Region, Italy, 27th January 2023 is a day of great significance, as it was the day we began the Ursuline Franciscan Lay Association (UFLA) at Santa Maria Maddalena. We began this journey on the feast day of St. Angela Merici, our Patron Saint.
In the European Region, Italy, 27th January 2023 is a day of great significance, as it was the day we began the Ursuline Franciscan Lay Association (UFLA) at Santa Maria Maddalena. We began this journey on the feast day of St. Angela Merici, our Patron Saint.
The four pioneering members were Anile Susanna, Romagnosi Fortunata, Nuqui Glenda, and Nuqui Rolly. Later, on 22nd January 2025, two more members joined the group, namely Lugsanay Edilbert and Nuqui Michal. This year, on 21st January 2026, we had the joy of welcoming one more member, Mrs. Irene Baring. Thus, we now have a total of seven members.
The members meet regularly once a month for prayers and fellowship. In alternate months, we have talks on various topics to deepen our knowledge of our Congregation and its mission. All the Sisters of the Zone take an active part in giving talks and conducting prayers. The Community Superior and the Sisters work hand in hand for the growth and betterment of the UFLA.
We are grateful to all the Sisters, especially our Superior General, Very Rev. Sr. Milly Fernandes, for inspiring us to begin the UFLA unit and for encouraging us to deepen the faith of families in these difficult times. We remain grateful for their continued guidance, support, and prayers.
